Homekeeping is a horror novel developed by Spicaze and released in April 2015, offering an emotionally charged experience. The game combines a nostalgic pixel-art style with a slow-paced yet haunting narrative, creating an unsettling atmosphere. Players follow Rutile, a young woman who has just landed her dream job. However, her joy quickly turns to fear when she steps into the mansion of Miss Alle, a mysterious mistress with strange habits.
In Homekeeping, players will spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour exploring each room, collecting clues, and interacting with the inhabitants of the mansion. Each decision can lead to one of three endings. The game focuses on light action elements such as movement, examining objects, and performing simple tasks. Supporting characters like Gabriel and Calcite are all trying to hide their secrets, adding depth to the relationships between the characters.
Homekeeping focuses on the relationships between women in a subtle way. The pixel-art style and backgrounds created by may.r.yu are reminiscent of classic RPG horror games. The music by BellKalengar changes dynamically, allowing players to feel every subtle change in the mansion. Observe carefully to better understand Rutile, Miss Alle, and the secrets waiting to be revealed.
